Dance for Parkinson’s Disease is a project that started in 2001 in New York. It is now a worldwide movement. For people with PD, simple rhythmic movement with (live) music can develop flexibility, confidence, integration of senses with body movement and pleasure in movement. The Southern Highlands class has been meeting weekly since 2015. Classes were suspended during COVID, but resumed in May 2021 and are held every Thursday, 1:30 – 2:30pm. The teacher is Margaret Connor, Accredited Dance Teacher and Occupational Therapist.
