‘Hearts In the Park’ was the first, of an annual remembrance service held in the Southern Highlands for those lost to suicide. The Southern Highlands Suicide Prevention Program placed over 300 hearts throughout Corbett Gardens in Bowral on the Saturday 24th of October 2020.
Each hand crafted heart represented 10 lives lost to suicide between 2018/2019 in Australia. The community were invited to attend and write a message or a loved ones name on a heart as part of the remembrance day service, both paying respects to those lost, raising awareness on suicide and it’s impacts, while showing the greater community that when it comes to mental health, the Southern Highlands stands together.
