Luke Bowen – Sposalizio – List
Pianist Luke Bowen , the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Eva Pascoe Award, is a Shoalhaven based musician with an impressive presence in the Highlands and beyond. On achieving his Licentiate in Music with distinctions at just 15, Luke has since become a frequent recitalist at St. Jude’s in Bowral where his wide ranging repertoire consistently captivates audiences. He has appeared as a soloist with the Highlands Sinfonia (2022) and recently performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a highly complex and transformative work, with the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra.
In 2023, Luke was featured in Inspire Music Australia’s Emerging Artist Series, performing in Bowral and Wollongong alongside former 100% Home-Grown Artist and 2023 Eva Pascoe Award winner, acclaimed violinist, Cedar Newman.
Having performed extensively across the Shoalhaven and Illawarra regions, including two appearances in the recital series for Music Shoalhaven, Luke most recently joined the Highlands Music Collective for their Vienna Gold series. There, he performed chamber works by Mozart, Schubert and Australian composer Robert Constable alongside violinist Myee Clohessy, cellist William Howard and violist Patrick Brearley.
Beyond recitals, Luke is a familiar face at the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod, where he won the Teen Piano Championship title for three consecutive years. In 2021, he was a finalist in the prestigious national Theme & Variations Foundation competition for pianists. Luke has also performed as a guest soloist with the Shoalhaven Lydian Singers, the Bundanon Trust and international tenor John MacNally during his Australian tour.
Alongside his musical achievements, Luke earned a diploma in music from the University of New England and is currently pursuing a science degree at UNE while studying piano privately with Professor Robert Constable AM. Excited to return to the 2024 Emerging Artists Series, Luke hopes to inspire local audiences and the wider community as he showcases the talent nurtured by the local music scene.
8:00 PM HARRISON GRAHAM
Harrison Graham , a 20 year old singer/songwriter and guitarist from the Southern Highlands of NSW, has made a name for himself with a laid back style that weaves together elements of folk, jazz, rock and blues. Growing up in a family where music was a shared language, he was surrounded by instruments, melodies and the kind of encouragement that nurtured his love for playing and performing.
Harrison’s journey has taken him from intimate weddings to bustling festivals, lively pub gigs and community events across the region. Wherever he performs, his natural stage presence and genuine connection with the crowd shine through, reflecting a rare mix of youthful energy and seasoned skill.
Harrison’s sound draws from a rich spectrum of influences, crediting this diversity with shaping his creative vision and fueling his constant evolution as an artist. Inspired by musicians who push boundaries and continually reinvent themselves, he brings a fresh perspective to each release, surprising fans with new elements and themes every time.
For Harrison, songwriting is more than a craft… it’s a way to tell stories, explore emotions and connect with people. He dedicates countless hours to perfecting his lyrics and melodies, striving to create music that leaves a lasting impact. As he continues his journey, Harrison is committed to growth, always pushing himself to expand his artistic horizons and elevate his sound. With a fierce passion for music, Harrison Graham on an exciting path and his future is one to watch.
9:00 PM THE SCOTSMAN
The Scotsman – Walking on the Waves
The Scotsman are a lively Celtic folk trio that brings the party to every performance. Led by the charismatic Graeme McColgan from the Illawarra, they are joined by two talented Tasmanian musicians, Neil Gray and Bob Connor. Together, they mix the best of Scottish, Irish and Australian folk music, creating a sound that gets everyone excited.
Their shows are a blast, featuring upbeat Irish tunes and heartfelt Scottish ballads that have been loved for generations. With amazing three part harmonies and a tonne of energy, The Scotsmen invite everyone to join in the fun and celebrate these great musical traditions.
Fans can’t get enough of their performances, saying things like, “Being in the audience at one of their gigs feels like going on an adventure through the Scottish hills with your best mate!” With The Scotsmen, every show is a joyful journey filled with laughter, great music, and a whole lot of heart.
