All Things Great Are Small @ Retford Park

All Things Great Are Small @ Retford Park

"All Things Great Are Small" is a new exhibition at White Cottage Gallery at Retford Park. It is a big little exhibition featuring miniature and small artworks by a number of artists from the Southern Highlands who came together 15 years ago to promote and foster the appreciation of miniatures. For this exhibition artworks are restricted in size to 100 square centimetres. The exhibition will run from Thursday, 8th December to Sunday, 12th February with the opening event taking place on Friday, 9th December at 630pm. The opening is free but numbers are limited so book your ticket here!

Dads in Distress Southern Highlands

Dads in Distress in a FREE support group for and by separated dads. The group is 100% confidential, dad friendly and caring. New dads are always welcome. There is no cost, preperation or booking required - just turn up before 7pm on a Tuesday at the Bowral Bowling Club. The event runs every week. If you are separated and struggling, this is for you. Many topics are covered, including (but not limited to) family law and court, communication issues, child contact and custody, child support, financial issues and feelings of isolation and loneliness. Southern Highlands Australian Plant Society (SHAPS) Monthly Meeting

SHAPS are a native plant garden club with members from all walks of life, some with long experience of growing native plants and others with none. All are welcome. SHAPS get together on the first Thursday of the month in the afternoons, either at the Moss Vale CWA where the group listens to speakers, buy locally propagated plants and chat over tea, or alternatively an outing is arranged to visit gardens or take gentle bushwalks. Retford Park Open Gardens

Retford Park was once the home of James Fairfax AC, who always believed that the estate should be preserved for the enjoyment and benefit of future generations. In 2016 Mr Fairfax gifted his historic home to the National Trust of Australia, and the estate (home and gardens) is currently open to the public every weekend. Visitors can explore the grand Victorian homestead and the magnificent gardens. One of the best way to enjoy the gardens is to pack a picnic! Dance for Parkinson’s

This weekly program uses a variety of dance-based exercise movements to address the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. The exercise group will be led by Margaret Connor, a professionally trained teacher and movement expert who will help participants stretch and strengthen muscles, gain balance and rhythm and concentrate mind, body and emotion on achieving greater confidence and a sense of grace in their environment. Research studies show that participation in movement-based community classes is associated with reduction in symptom severity, improved performance in daily living activities and improved balance. The program is held every Thursday, 130pm to 230pm.

The Bundanoon Garden Club began in 1970 as the Bundanoon Beautification and Garden Club.  The original 23 members wanted to beautify the village by creating public gardens and planting trees. Fifty years later, members of the club still meet every month to enjoy a friendly hour or two of light gardening and weeding and maintain some of the gardens in Bundanoon.  Join them at the Garden of Memories at 8am on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Funded by the NSW Government in partnership with Wingecarribee Shire Council to reconnect the community, The Highlands Fest will showcase the regions diverse culture of artists, wine, produce and entertainers with free activities the whole family can enjoy. Non stop entertainment starts at 1pm with Bluey and Bingo. Main stage live music commences at 1:30 with a feast of Aussie talent headlined by iconic band, Eskimo Jo at 8:45 pm. Glorious Gardens in the Southern Highlands

The Women's Committee, National Trust (NSW), presents Glorious Gardens in the Southern Highlands, rescheduled from October 2022, visiting much loved cool climate gardens of great diversity and charm in the Moss Vale and Bowral districts. You can join by purchasing a self-drive ticket, or hop aboard an all-inclusive Coach journey. No matter how you join them, a spectacular autumn garden adventure awaits you. Garden visits will run from 10am to 12pm and then 2pm to 4pm on both days. Details of the gardens to visit will be provided to ticketholders before the event.
