34 Degrees South
34 Degrees South
Artists of the Round Yard Inc present their next exhibition at Retford Park, Bowral: '34 Degrees South'. As artists based in the Southern Highlands, '34 Degrees South’ speaks to our latitudinal placement on the Earth’s hemisphere, our bandwidth south of the equator. It also tells of our continued quests for freedom using the mediums of paint, clay, stone, metal and fibre, they tell our stories from the perspective of their own sense of place. Artists of the Round Yard invite you to join them at Retford Park where an exhibition of works will be for sale by the artists, presented within the Round Yard & White Cottage Gallery in the stunning outdoor garden area adjoining these two historical buildings. The exhibition is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am-4pm.

Tender @ Ngununggula
Tender @ Ngununggula
"Tender" is a term often associated with notions of care and femininity. We liken tenderness to the body, our gestures, and the way we feel or express ourselves. We impart the term on places, objects or surfaces to describe how they arouse our senses or how an object yields under pressure; it softens, loses shape, and gives way. This term has rich and varied meanings, and the aim of this exhibition, which takes Tender as its title, is to explore its significance beyond a gender lens. It seeks to understand how tenderness is woven into the human form and its integration into all aspects of lived experience through the diverse painting practices of Australian artists Sally Anderson, Sarah Drinan, Laura Jones, India Mark, Dionisia Salas, Julia Trybala and Amber Wallis. The exhibitions runs until Monday, 16th June 2025.

Murray’s Diary; An ANZAC Story
Murray’s Diary; An ANZAC Story
Highlands Theatre Group (HTG) are pleased to announce that tickets for their next full production ‘Murray’s Diary; An ANZAC Story’ are on sale now. Tickets are limited to just 60 per performance to ensure an intimate theatrical experience, so book early to guarantee your seat as it is very likely to be a sell out. This is the world premiere of a wonderful and locally written work. It is an engrossing and emotionally evocative experience with a high quality cast and production team working hard to bring you the best local theatre. When First World War broke out, Murray Aitken, a young Kalgoorlie accountant, was living at home with his widowed mother, Bessie. Like thousands of young Australians, Murray was keen to go on “the great adventure”. He joined the 11th Battalion, AIF. The play is based on Murray’s diary and letters, and reveals the Aitken family’s very dramatic story as it unfolded during the tumultuous years of "the war to end wars”.
