ReFrame Youth Mental Health Service

ReFrame is a FREE walk-in service for young people aged 12-25 in the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas. ReFrame provides psychological therapies delivered by our Mental Health Professionals and Youth Engagement Workers. We provide information, support and services for young people who are having a tough time managing:
  • Stress, anxiety or worry
  • Depression or feelings of sadness
  • Physical health
  • Family and relationships, study or work pressures

Bowral Sculpture Prize

The Bowral Sculpture Prize is an annual event sponsored by Dr Tony Emmett. The exhibition will feature sculptures by artists from the Southern Highlands and across the state who have created inspiring works in multiple mediums such as stone, steel, wood, ceramics, mixed media and found objects. The sculptures will be displayed in the gallery and in the newly renovated sculpture garden. Opening night and prize presentation will be held at 4pm on Saturday, February 27th.

The Composer in the Room @ Burradoo

Steel City Strings is back in 2021 with an exciting concert event to present a new composition, ‘Cinque Forme d’Amore’ (‘Five Kinds of Love’) by Elena Kats-Chernin, voted the most popular Australian composer in 2019’s ABC Classic’s Favourite Composer countdown. This piece was commissioned by Illawarra philanthropist Sue Kirby in memory of her late husband, Judge Jack Goldring. Also featuring music by Australian composers Matthew Hindson, Ann Carr-Boyd, Andrew Ford and more. The concert begins at 2pm and tickets are available from the Steel City Stings website.

Mahalia Barnes & The Soul Mates

Mahalia Barnes has been in and around music her entire life. Throughout her childhood years she was exposed to everything from Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett to Ike + Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, all of which helped shape her into the powerhouse soul and blues vocalist that has jaws dropping every time she picks up a mic. Waste Reduction Workshops

Wingecarribee Shire Council will be holding several waste reduction workshops in the lead up to Clean Up Australia Day. Come join one of the FREE workshops to help reduce waste in your household. The workshop will cover topics such as reducing waste in the kitchen, in the bathroom, and reusing waste in the garden. Attendees will also be given a tour of the Resource Recovery Centre. Free Infant Swim Classes

With a strong belief that swimming is a life skill that should be accessible to everyone, Moss Vale Aquatic Centre is offering free infant swim classes for infants up to four months old. Splash Time is an educational program structured around developing parental aquatic skills and building experience in handling a baby in water in a fun, social and nurturing environment. Nunsense: The Mega-Musical

Highlands Theatre Group is proud to present Nunsense: The Mega-Musical! Nunsense started as a cabaret show that enjoyed a 38-week run before evolving into a full length musical. The original Off-Broadway production opened in 1985 and ran for 3,672 performances, making it the second longest running Off-Broadway production in history. Tim Freedman Hot Autumn Nights 2021

After a sold out 35 date tour in November and December, Tim Freedman will re-emerge in March with a brand new solo show "Hot Autumn Nights 2021". This snappy run through the country will preview three more songs from The Whitlams' forthcoming album "Gaffage and Clink", and also premiere reworkings of some of his favourite tracks from Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Randy Newman. Performing to limited capacities, and bringing a grand piano to most of the venues, Freedman will once again mix cabaret and rock in his own sardonic style. He will be performing in Bowral on Saturday, 6th of March!

Wildlife Weekend 2021

On the weekend of March 6th and 7th the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary will open for the first time since the majority of the property was destroyed in the 2019/2020 bushfires. This will be a special weekend full of family fun, packed full of events running from 10am to 4pm! Australian Haydn Ensemble presents Prussian Quartets

The Australian Haydn Ensemble presents three impressive string quartets recalling musical dedications to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II. The reign of King Friedrich was relatively brief, but as a patron of the arts many notable chamber works were penned for him. The 135th Moss Vale Show will return in 2021, however the show will be an "Exhibitors Only" event this year. This means that competition sections such as horses, cattle, alpacas, poultry and the pavillion will go ahead, however entertainment such as rides, stalls, live music and fireworks have unfortunately been cancelled. The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra is back, and the first Concert Series for 2021 will be a sumptuous feast of delicious sounds from Beethoven, Bizet, Alfred Hill and Dvorak. Autumn is a beautiful time to be in the Southern Highlands and visit the historic St Jude's Church in Bowral. Earth Hour Sculpture in the Gardens

The Earth Hour celebrations at the Southern Highland Botanic Gardens in 2021 will include a sculpture exhibition and competition. SHBG has invited individuals to create a piece of sculpture from recycled material to highlight the concept of art and sustainability, and the winners will be announced at the event. There will be live music and refreshments available, or you can bring your own picnic. The event will be held on Saturday 27th March 5.00pm to 9.00pm. Gates open 5.00pm, and lights will go out at 7.30pm for Earth Hour.

King Tide – Rocksteady Reggae

Eclectic Sounds is proud to bring Aria award nominees King Tide, Australia’s premier original Rocksteady Reggae band, to the Bowral Bowling Club this April! Bundanoon Highland Gathering

The Bundanoon Highland Gathering began on 21 October 1978 with a principle aim of raising funds for local charities and bring tourists to Bundanoon and the Southern Highlands, benefiting local businesses, guesthouses and hotels. Continuing to this day, “Bundanoon is Brigadoon” has become one of the most successful events staged in the area. From its humble beginnings of a handful of pipe bands and spectators, and is recognised worldwide and has grown to into one of the finest Highland Gatherings in Australia. The Gardens will also hold a Plant Fair, hosting specialist boutique nurseries offering collectors plants, trees, perennials and bulbs. Tickets are available through the Botanic Gardens website. Entry to each private garden or the plant fair is $10, with a pass available for all gardens and the fair for $35.

Autumn Concert Series Two

The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra has four planned concert series in 2021, and the second one will be held the weekend of June 5th and 6th. Bundanoon Winterfest 2021

It is now confirmed that the Bundanoon Winterfest will be back in July 2021, and it will be bigger and better than before! Winterfest is a hugely popular week-long festival that entertains and engages locals and visitors alike. The festival has been the recipient of a grant from the CommBank Bush Fire Recovery Fund, set up to support bushfire affected communities by strengthening social connectedness and promoting emotional well-being.
