Exhibition – “Biogenesis”

Mothers and daughters explore their shared and separate creativity in this new exhibition at Sturt Gallery. "Biogenesis" embodies the idea that all generations are connected - our behaviours and beliefs are seeds that are sown and nurtured through time. Artist Nettie Sumner has created sculptures of wire and ceramics, while her daughter Mercy Sumner uses porcelain and hand crocheted wire. Local artist Libby Hobbs creates hand woven dolls, and a lifelong love of fabrics appears to have passed to her daughter, Dimity Kidstone, who creates tapestries. Ultimately the exhibition explores whether creativity is a consequence of genomic configuration, environmental influences... or both.

Working Bees – Caring for Bundanoon Town Gardens

The Bundanoon Garden Club began in 1970 as the Bundanoon Beautification and Garden Club.  The original 23 members wanted to beautify the village by creating public gardens and planting trees. Fifty years later, members of the club still meet every month to enjoy a friendly hour or two of light gardening and weeding and maintain some of the gardens in Bundanoon.  Join them at the Garden of Memories at 9am on the 3rd Thursday of every month. The club also cares of Nancy Kingsbury Park and the Memorial Gardens.

Highlands Theatre Group presents “12 Angry Jurors”

Highlands Theatre Group is proud to present "12 Angry Men". What begins as an open-and-shut case of murder becomes a story that presents a succession of clues creating doubt and a drama of each of the juror’s prejudices, preconceptions about the trial, the accused and each other. 11 of the 12 jurors are quick to vote he is guilty; the remaining juror seems sceptical about the evidence and wants a thorough deliberation of the facts before sentencing, to prove the defendant’s guilt is beyond reasonable doubt. Tickets go on sale soon! Make sure to check back to the HTG site shortly.

Eclectic Sounds presents Deborah Conway

Eclectic Sounds is bringing Deborah Conway to the Southern Highlands in July! There's not much you can say about the creative output of Deborah Conway and her partner Willy Zygier that hasn’t already been said. J-Wire reported that “Conway and Zygier seem to have enveloped an intimate, down-home, folk-blues sound that’s deeply relatable. The songs tend to wrap around you, like a favourite throw, or big, old jumper does, as you curl-up on the couch with your favourite melancholic thoughts.” Join them at the Bowral Bowling Club on Thursday, 29th of July.
