Archibald Prize 2024 @ Ngununggula

Archibald Prize 2024 @ Ngununggula

Two of NSW's most interesting art exhibitions are coming to the Highlands. For the first time in the region, the nationally significant Archibald Prize exhibition and the Salon des Refusés will be exhibited at Ngununggula and neighbouring Retford Park. Judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW, the Archibald prize is awarded to the best portrait painting. Since 1921, it has highlighted figures from all walks of life, from famous faces to local heroes, reflecting back to us the stories of our times. The Salon des Refusés showcases an incredible ‘alternative’ selection of works not chosen for display in the official Archibald Prize exhibition. The exhibitions run until Monday, 27 January 2025.

Horizons. A symbolism of limits or boundaries in various contexts.
