August Artist of the Month: Georgia-Jean

Discover the striking vocals and lyrical depth of Southern Highlands singer-songwriter Georgia-Jean, our 100% Home-Grown Artist of the Month.

Throughout August, Highland FM will feature releases from Georgia-Jean’s 2024 EP, ‘I Don’t Know’, alongside the understated elegance of her Old Binda Road recordings, with keyboard contributions from Martin Scholl.

Georgia’s four stripped-back compositions, including the emotive simplicity in ‘Train Line’, the calm pulse of ‘Leave Me’ and the focused clarity from ‘Underwater’, reveal her distinct style: a blend of heartfelt storytelling and soulful introspection.

An indie singer-songwriter from the Southern Highlands of NSW, Georgia-Jean masterfully crafts a sound that combines dynamic pop/rock instrumentation with lush vocal soundscapes. Known for her infectious harmonies and deeply emotive lyrics and influenced by artists like Florence + the Machine, Angie McMahon and Meg Mac, Georgia has created a sonic signature that is both distinctive and genuine.

Taking the stage with her newly formed band in late 2022, Georgia-Jean has now marked the one year anniversary of her debut EP, ‘Leave Me.’ This milestone album brings her artistry to life with stunning guitar riffs and elegant piano melodies, all while retaining a polished pop edge.

Georgia’s music is recognised for its sombre, poignant and authentic qualities, which shape her unique artistry and deliver a deeply immersive experience. Her dedication to her craft is evident in every note and lyric, keeping her work grounded in personal experiences and artistic vision.
