January Artist of the Month: Ron Callaghan

We’re kicking off 2025 with a bang, spotlighting our 100% Home-Grown Artist for January, singer/songwriter and guitarist, Ron Callaghan.

Ron’s sound fuses country, blues and rock, marinated in the earthy rhythms of the Dreamtime, grounding his music in the timeless pulse of his First Nations heritage.

This month, we’re all about Ron’s vibe, featuring tracks from his debut album ‘Days in a Cave’ and unearthing some rare gems along the way.

Where Country, Rhythm & Blues, Rock and Pop meet, you’ll find Ron ‘Callo’ Callaghan; a singer/songwriter and storyteller with a gift for connecting to country through song.

A proud Walbunja and Dhungutti man from the Yuin Nation on the NSW South Coast, Ron has been performing for decades, bringing heartfelt songs and a warm spirit to stages across Australia. His music reflects his life, family and culture, carrying an honesty that draws people in.

Ron’s songs are built on soulful melodies and lyrics that tell real stories. His gentle guitar playing and the quiet power in the way he shares his songs are the perfect backdrop for a voice with a unique vibrato; one that’s as moving as it is unforgettable.

These days, Ron is also a mentor, helping young First Nations musicians on the South Coast find their own voice. Within his community and beyond, he’s respected not just as a performer but as someone who inspires those around him.

With his band of South Coast musicians, Ron fuses Koori blues and country rock into a signature sound that’s turning heads and earning him a spot as a featured artist on the upcoming Out in the Country music series with Mark Piepers.

Ron’s debut album ‘Days in a Cave’ made waves and fans won’t have to wait long for what’s next. The first single, ‘Poor Man’ from his second album is set to drop in early February, offering a fresh glimpse into his evolving sound.

Whether he’s performing solo or with his band, Ron ‘Callo’ Callaghan’s music delivers; a true reflection of who he is and the stories he’s here to share.
